De theeboom is een boom van de familie Myrtaceae afkomstig uit Australië. In het Engels is het een van de theeboom, die vooral verwarrend is met de theeboom (Camellia sinensis) en met de manuka (Leptospermum scoparium). De theeboom wordt soms Melaleuque genoemd in sommige boeken over essentiële oliën. Theeboombladeren worden gewonnen uit een essentiële olie: theeboomolie, gebruikt in de kruidengeneeskunde. Deze olie ligt dicht bij de "gomenolate" olie gewonnen uit niaouli.
