Ylang-ylang (of cananga odorata in het Latijn) is een grote tropische boom met grijze schors welke tot 25 meter hoog wordt in het wild. Om gemakkelijk te oogsten, is de boom ongeveer 1m80 als hij wordt gekweekt. De bladeren zijn helder en hard en de roze, gele of mauve bloemen, zeer geurig, hebben bloemblaadjes in de vorm van kleine banden van geelgroene kleur. Ylang-ylang maakt deel uit van de familie Anonaceae. De essentiële olie van ylang-ylang wordt verkregen door de destillatie van de verse bloemen. De geur van de essentiële olie van ylang-ylang is exotisch: bloemig en erg warm. De kleur is lichtgeel en de textuur stroperig. Ylang-ylang is afkomstig uit Oceanië, maar wordt ook gekweekt in tropische regio's (voornamelijk in Azië).

Enkel uitwendig gebruik(verdund): in de onderrug om seksualiteit te stimuleren. Op de solaire plexus voor zijn regulerende eigenschappen van het hartstelsel. Lokaal op de te revitaliseren huid. Gebruik in diffusie: om ontspanning te bevorderen en seksualiteit te stimuleren.

Enkel uitwendig gebruik. Buiten het bereik van kinderen houden. Vermijd direct of indirect contact met de ogen. Niet gebruiken bij zwangere vrouwen of vrouwen die borstvoeding geven en bij kinderen jonger dan 3 jaar. Vermijd licht en hitte.
